Newborn photography at home
So often I hear from families how they wished they’d booked a newborn session. They didn’t at the time due to a multitude of reasons. Perhaps they didn’t feel like their house was right. Or they didn’t feel like they looked good. Or everything with the newborn baby was just too overwhelming, and booking a photoshoot was the last thing on the list. But then time passes, that little newborn baby has grown, and all that was documented are some grainy smart phone photos.
So let me provide some reassurance.
Your house does not matter. I walk into homes of all shapes and sizes. Some are tidy. Some are messy. Some are in the middle of renovations. Some are rentals. It doesn’t matter. This is the place you brought your baby home to. All I need is a window, and we will make beautiful photos.
You may not be feeling great in those early days. You’re tired, you have just given birth and may be breastfeeding, so perhaps your body doesn’t quite feel like yours. That’s OK. I am here to make sure you look good in your photos. I edit with this in mind, making gentle adjustments to make you look a little less tired ;) And we don’t have to capture your photos in the first 2 weeks! If you need a bit more time, we can wait until 6-8 weeks. We may not get the sleepy photos, but we will still capture your little baby. And you may be feeling a bit more human.
I make the process as easy as possible, so please don’t let the overwhelm of welcoming a new baby prevent you from booking the photos. I come to you (so no piling kids into cars). We take our time. You can feed your baby as much as needed. Your toddler can have breaks and snacks. We chat, and I’ll take some snaps. I feel everyone exhale (especially dads!) about half an hour into session. When the realisation hits that this actually isn’t so bad after all ;)
So if you’re expecting, please reach out and we can book you in for your newborn photography session.
