Lifestyle newborn photography - what is it, and what can I expect?
If you’re not a fan of studio, posed, newborn photos - there is an alternative! Lifestyle newborn photography is a style of photography, where your family and newborn baby are captured at home. The style is more natural, no beanbags or props, instead just using wraps and blankets you already own, in your own space.
What to expect?
When you baby arrives, we book in your date - usually around 6-14 days (if you want to try for some sleepy photos!).
When I arrive for your session, I will have a look around your home, looking for the best places for photos. This might not always be the main bedroom - I’m looking for the best light most of all. We may use the bed, bassinet, couch, doorway, stairwell, etc! Your house does not need to be anything special, but if you have some beautiful styling, art, knick knacks, I will try to incorporate these into your gallery too.
If your baby is awake, we roll with that, capturing some beautiful moments of connection, and then as the sleepy signs start I will help rock your little one to sleep. We then aim to get some sweet sleepy photos, with you and your baby solo. And if there are older siblings, we will get shots with the whole gang too!
The session usually takes around an hour or so.
I capture newborn photos in Melbourne and surrounds (including Geelong and Mornington Peninsula). If you would like to learn more, or book in your own newborn photos, you can reach me here.
